"I believe that mental health is not just about managing symptoms, it is about having a resilient inner self and healthy relationships. It's about prolonging the impact of simple joys and meaningful moments to enhance our quality of life! My mission is to help you find a pathway for healing in a painless, compassionate, and efficient way".

He completed his undergraduate studies at Florida International University over 20 years ago. Right after graduation, he worked as a counselor for "at risk" youth in school settings and a Juvenile Justice diversionary program in the community. While attending Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (now Palo Alto University) where he received his M.S. and Ph.D., he continued to work with trauma-exposed youngsters from ages 6 to 14 in school settings. He also counseled adults, couples and families in community health settings. His American Psychological Association-accredited internship gave him valuable experience working with persons with severe and persisting mental illness at the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). His post-doctoral training allowed him to hone his skills at the University of Connecticut Department of Psychology DMHAS Research Division. Upon licensure in the State of Connecticut in 2006, he worked in medical rehabilitation, long-term care, and secured behavioral health settings. When not striving to keep his patients happy and healthy, he enjoys sunshine wherever he can find it: hiking, swimming, riding his sportbike, or cruising with the top down.

I treat persons of all ages from 6 to 104 with AD/HD, adjustment disorder, anger management/impulse control, anxiety, bipolar, depression, disorders of conduct, eating disorders, grief/loss, personality disorders, schizophrenia, sleep disorders, smoking cessation, substance/alcohol abuse, and trauma (emotional/physical/sexual abuse, combat-related, accident/injury).

I help persons through couple/marital problems, divorce, family dysfunction, career/work problems.

I help persons mange complex health issues such as amputation, bariatric surgery, cancer, chronic pain, colostomy/ileostomy, CPAP use, diabetes, motor vehicle accidents, MS/ALS/Parkinson's, and general medication/treatment adherence.

I help older persons cope with the changes that occur late in life, including loss of independence, transition to assisted living/long term care, loss of support resources.

About our logo

The Green Lotus is a symbol of improving life and starting good habits. Here at SEYLA Counseling, we implement a broad range of proven psychotherapy methods to broaden self-understanding and encourage patients to adopt new attitudes, feelings, and reactions towards life's most challenging situations.

The bird flying above the lotus is the Caladrius: A mythical bird that would visit persons who are weakened by illness and offer healing by taking in the sickness, then fly off to the sun to be rid of it. In a way, our staff members take in your pain and suffering and offer healing, but it isn't as simple as flying off to the sun. Therapy is a healing process that requires you (and all session participants) to invest energy and fully participate in sessions. We understand that psychotherapy can be a difficult process at times and, together, we will work at a pace that is comfortable for you.
